The Beauty of Minimal

One of the first questions I get from new clients is whether they should go custom or pick a flash design. Here's an honest breakdown of both.

What is a flash tattoo?

Flash designs are pre-drawn pieces that are ready to tattoo. They're usually simpler, more self-contained designs that I've created in advance and made available for anyone who wants them. They're typically quicker to execute, often more affordable, and they're a great option if you don't have a specific idea in mind but you trust my aesthetic.

What is a custom tattoo?

A custom piece is designed specifically for you from scratch. You bring the idea — a concept, a reference, a feeling — and I build something around it. It takes more planning, more back and forth, and usually costs more and takes longer. But the result is something that exists nowhere else in the world and was made specifically for your body.

Which one should you choose?

Go custom if you have a specific vision, a meaningful concept, or you want something tailored to a particular placement on your body. Go flash if you love a design I've already created, you want something with less planning involved, or you're getting your first tattoo and you're not sure yet what direction you want to go in.

Can I customize a flash design?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no — it depends on the piece. Some flash designs work well with small adjustments, others are designed to be tattooed exactly as they are. Ask me when you reach out and I'll let you know what's possible.

There's no wrong answer

Some of my favorite pieces I've ever done have been flash. Some have been fully custom. The best tattoo is the one you're going to love wearing — whether that came from a conversation we had for weeks or a design you saw on my page and just knew.
