Touch ups — what they are and when you need one
Aftercare

Even the best tattoos sometimes need a little extra love after they heal. Here's everything you need to know about touch ups.
What is a touch up?
A touch up is a quick session to fix anything that didn't heal perfectly — thin lines that faded, spots where ink didn't stick, areas that look patchy or uneven after the healing process. It's completely normal and most artists including me offer them as part of the process.
Why do tattoos sometimes need touch ups?
Skin is unpredictable. Ink settles differently depending on the area of the body, how well you followed aftercare, your skin type, and factors neither of us can control. Fine line work in particular can sometimes need a pass over after healing because the lines are so delicate. It doesn't mean anything went wrong — it's just part of working with skin as a medium.
When should you come back for one?
Wait until your tattoo is fully healed before reaching out about a touch up — that means at least 6 weeks, ideally closer to 8-10 weeks for larger pieces. Coming back too early means we'd just be tattooing over skin that's still healing which helps nobody.
How do I know if I need one?
Look at your fully healed tattoo in good lighting. If you see areas that look visibly lighter than the rest, spots where lines have gaps, or patches where the ink looks faded or blown out, reach out and send me a photo. I'll let you know if it needs attention.
What about touch ups on old work?
If you've got an older tattoo that's faded over time and you want to bring it back to life, that's something we can talk about too. Depending on the piece it might be a straightforward refresh or it might need a more involved approach. Either way reach out and we'll figure it out together.
